Following the successful completion
of the Alfred Dunhill Store in Jermyn
Street, we were approached by the
Italian Designer Menswear company,
Boggi Milano, to carry out the works
in their first UK Retail Store in
Jermyn Street, London.
The Client employed several Italian
Contractors', who were also managed
by Desertoak, in order to comply
with UK Health & Safety and
Our Site Manager liaised with
the Client's contact and the Italian
Contractors', the majority of which
did not speak English. Assistance
was given to the Italian Contractors’
in producing Method Statements and
Risk Assessments, which were then
translated by the Contract Administrators.
With this system and frequent meetings,
all Contractors' could continue
to work safely on site.
To the front of the shop, a self-contained
gallery area was constructed, before
you enter into the main shop unit.
New MF ceilngs were fitted throughout
with recessed lighting troughs.
The main floor was levelled, in
order to take the huge 4ft floor
tiles, which were shipped over from
New lighting, power and data
were fitted throughout the Ground
Floor and Mezzanine level; new distribution
boards were also fitted. The electrical
and alarm systems need to be compatible
to connect with and be remotely
managed from Italy. In the Basement,
numerous Offices remained, which
required Periodic Inspection and
Testing of the electrical installation.
The Mezzanine floor area required
re-screeding and extending in part.
The project was completed in 7-weeks.
