Whilst working on site, we were
approached by the Dutch company
ZNS Van Dam, who were the Main Contractor,
responsible for building the temporary
1,050 seat Auditorium, which forms
the “Courtyard Theatre”.
Desertoak undertook the new
Link Bridges between the two buildings,
the fire doors throughout, as well
as the specialist 40mm thick plywood
flooring, which completely covers
all of the four floors and
tiered seating
upstands.
We also constructed the new 14m
high walls, which enclose the Fire
Escape Stairs and the divide wall
at the rear of the Stage. These
were constructed with Fireline plasterboard
and covered with tongue and groove
ply sheeting.
We also
assisted with the working design
of the internal construction and and were also involved
in the practical side of the ventilation
below the floor, supplying air to
the complete Ground Floor area.
