Desertoak have recently completed a fit-out for the Ministry of Justice of a new office for use by Cafcass, the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service.
A large single office space has been separated into offices, meeting room, family interview rooms and break out area.
Due to the requirements of the space and the private nature of conversations held within the space, sound separation in the new space was of paramount importance. A floor to floor solution has been used to minimise sound transference between rooms. Air conditioning units and mechanical pipework were redesigned to minimise penetrations through walls and ceilings reducing sound transference. Acoustic seals in doors both within the frame and at the threshold have been used. Insulation between the computer floor and concrete floor slab, running in line with the new partition walls also adds to the room separation.
The space has been decorated in a lively colour scheme with accent colours in each area, high gloss kitchen and fitted cupboards add to the contemporary feel of the space.
In all the project was completed in 5 weeks including a 1 week delay due to Covid 19, where Desertoak limited the number of contractors working on site to follow safe distancing guidelines and advice from the government and health organisations in relation to safe working practices.
